Punk rock originated in the 70's as a dissonant, irregular take-over opposed to mainstream music charted by the number or sales. Rock ensambles alike Green Day, the Offspring, and Rancid helped bring punk music back in 1990. This time the mesh of rapid, simple as soap rock with rhytmic pop melodies stayed on the TV. These days, so-called punk pop is a key part in the world of mainstream pop music. These ten music tracks are fine starting points to get to know pop punk.

1. blink-182 - Enema of the State

In blink-182's endless endeavour to diminish any adults in the vicinity, this album showed a lady clothed as an enema au pair on the booklet. The punk pop inside is teenage and never-to-be-forgotten including the monumental hit single “All the Small Things.”

2. The Donnas - Spend the Night

Girls can play punk pop, as well, and this song is an abundant proof of the fact. The group modeled themselves after the Ramones with each singer taking the name Donna. Download Paramore to listen to it.

3. Good Charlotte - Young and the Hopeless

A band from Waldorf, Maryland Good Charlotte got into the top 10 of the popular music album chart. It is full with history of high school and difficult mothers. The big hit track is “Girls & Boys.”

4. Green Day - American Idiot

After retreating from their nineties peak of popularity, Green Day faded from live performances to put together punk rock's 1st opera. Though the popular band was unsure about their fan's attitude to Jesus of Suburbia, it to be a UK rock classic topping the charts and gaining a Grammy award for Best Punk Album of two thousand and four.
